Clearing immunisation warnings

In this month’s Hot Tip, we explain the process of clearing outstanding immunisations. For example, if a patient has transferred from another practice and has their immunisation up to date you have two choices:

1         record the past immunisations into practiX as previously given; or

2         skip the warnings whether they have been given or not

We will be explaining the second method of skipping immunisation warnings.

Skipping immunisation warnings by age

Open a patient’s health record:

Ř       Select Immunisation from either the Health Summary View or Consultation Tools

Ř       Right click on the Age column heading you would like to skip warnings up to (eg right click on 12 years for all warnings up to and including 12 years)

Ř       Select skip warning up to this age > for all diseases

Ř       Provided you would like practiX to skip the warnings for all outstanding immunisations up to this age as complete, select ‘Yes

Ř       Continue with your consultation as required, all immunisations up to the age you have selected will now be considered cleared.

Skipping immunisation warnings by disease

Open a patient’s health record:

Ř       Select Immunisation from either the Health Summary View or Consultation Tools

Ř       Right click on a red overdue check box corresponding with the disease you wish to skip warnings for

Ř       Select skip warning up to this age > for this disease

Ř       Provided you would like practiX to skip the warnings for the selected disease up to this age as complete, select ‘Yes

Ř       Continue with your consultation as required, warnings for this disease up to the age you have selected will now be considered cleared.

Immunisation schedule/warning window

It is important to understand the immunisation warning screen and the legend at the bottom of the screen which displays the following:

This is reporting only on immunisations recorded in practiX.

Red = Overdue – Although stated as overdue there maybe a number of scenarios where this isn’t the case. As mentioned earlier they may have had the immunisations elsewhere or before you started using practiX. Alternatively, the patient/guardian may have chosen not to be immunised against the particular diseases.

White = Not Overdue – This is not due.

Green = Given or Skipped It is very important to understand that green does not mean it was given. As the legend states it is either given or skipped. To view what was given go to the History button at the top of all immunisation screens.
